Defences of
the Colony.
As the acquisition of Kowloon will necessarily cause a material change in the general scheme for the defence of the Harbour and city of Victoria, I think it right at the present time, when the appropriation of land in Kowloon is under consideration and decision will be made by Her Majesty's Government as to the sites to be reserved for Batteries on that Peninsula, to bring to the notice of His Excellency The Governor the desirableness of urging upon the Right Honorable
